This hotel represents a superb base from which to explore Iceland's remote and haunting south coast. It comes highly recommended.

This hotel is in a peaceful spot on the edge of the tiny village of Kirkjubaejarklaustur with steep hillside on one side and, away in the distance, the sea on the other.

The lobby is medium sized with a very high ceiling and curving staircase up to the rooms. There is a cosy bar just off the lobby.

The hotel is a large modern white building.

Located on the ground floor just off the lobby, the restaurant is wonderfully light and elegant with huge windows commanding views up to the hillside behind the hotel. The decor is modern and the food irresistible.

Standard: There are two types of room. In the main building the rooms are large and in exceptional condition with wood laminate floors and attractive modern furniture. In the wing off the lobby the rooms are a little smaller and not so modern. They are nonetheless in very good condition and benefit from arguably more dramatic views out towards the sea.
